Epson DX4000 Reset Waste Ink Counter
When Epson DX4000 reports that an ink pad needs service, restarting the printer alone normally does not clear the lock. A compatible reset procedure is required.
What the Epson DX4000 service message means
Every cleaning cycle sends a small amount of ink to the waste ink system. Epson DX4000 adds that activity to its counter and displays a maintenance warning when the programmed threshold is reached.

Reset the counter in Epson DX4000
Complete these steps in order. A direct USB connection and the original Epson driver are essential for reliable communication.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for DX4000 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson DX4000 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson DX4000.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson DX4000 is not detected
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
