Epson SX400 Reset Waste Ink Counter
When Epson SX400 reports that an ink pad needs service, restarting the printer alone normally does not clear the lock. A compatible reset procedure is required.
Before resetting Epson SX400
An ink pad message is a maintenance safeguard. It indicates that Epson SX400 has reached a stored waste ink value that must be reset before normal printing can resume.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson SX400. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson SX400
The reset normally takes only a few minutes, but the printer must be detected correctly before the key is used.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for SX400 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson SX400 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson SX400.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson SX400 is not detected
- Install the original Epson driver for SX400; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.

No. Wic Reset Connect requires a direct USB connection to the Windows computer.
Does Epson SX400 need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
Does the reset clean or replace the ink pads?
No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
