Canon MP493 Ink Absorber Full Reset
Canon MP493 may block print jobs after recording enough cleaning and maintenance cycles. Use the sequence below to enter service mode and reset the stored value.
The waste ink counter inside Canon MP493
The lock is based on accumulated maintenance activity. Resetting Canon MP493 changes the counter value but does not remove ink already held in the absorber material.

How to enter service mode on Canon MP493
- Turn the printer off.

Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon MP493 is not detected
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.
- Connect Canon MP493 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
- If Windows does not detect a service-mode device, restart the printer normally, wait 10 seconds and repeat the preparation.
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
