Model-specific reset guide
Epson DX5000 Reset Waste Ink Counter
Epson DX5000 records cleaning cycles and waste ink usage in an internal counter. When that value reaches its programmed limit, printing can stop until the counter is reset.
Before resetting Epson DX5000
During head cleaning and normal maintenance, unused ink is directed into internal absorber pads. Epson DX5000 estimates that accumulation with a software counter; it does not directly measure the physical amount of ink in the pads.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson DX5000. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson DX5000
Prepare the computer and connection first. Most unsuccessful attempts are caused by a missing original driver, an indirect USB connection or another Epson utility using the printer.
-
Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for DX5000 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.
-
Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson DX5000 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.
-
Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson DX5000.
-
Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson DX5000 is not detected
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Install the original Epson driver for DX5000; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
