The problem

The waste ink counter inside Canon MG5550

Canon MG5550 uses a stored counter as a maintenance safeguard. Reaching the threshold can produce an Ink Absorber Full, Service Required or related support-code message.

Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Canon MG5550. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.

Step by step

Reset the counter in Canon MG5550

First make sure the power indicator is steady and no cartridge or mechanical error is active. Then prepare the Windows computer and direct USB connection.

  1. Prepare the printer

Resolve other errors, confirm a steady power light and enter service mode using the sequence above.

  2. Connect directly by USB

    Connect Canon MG5550 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

  3. Start Wic Reset Connect

Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

  4. Enter the key and reset

Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.

Finish correctly: Do not unplug the USB cable while data is being written. Restart Canon MG5550 only when Wic Reset Connect confirms completion.
If Canon MG5550 is not detected
  • Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
  • Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.
  • Close Canon maintenance utilities and clear paused print jobs before opening Wic Reset Connect.
  • Connect Canon MG5550 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
