Epson RX680 Reset Waste Ink Counter
A waste ink counter warning can prevent Epson RX680 from printing even when the printer is otherwise working normally. Follow the checks and reset sequence below to restore operation safely.
Why Epson RX680 stops printing
During head cleaning and normal maintenance, unused ink is directed into internal absorber pads. Epson RX680 estimates that accumulation with a software counter; it does not directly measure the physical amount of ink in the pads.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson RX680. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson RX680
Prepare the computer and connection first. Most unsuccessful attempts are caused by a missing original driver, an indirect USB connection or another Epson utility using the printer.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for RX680 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson RX680 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson RX680.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson RX680 is not detected
- Install the original Epson driver for RX680; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.

Does Epson RX680 need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
What if the first reset attempt fails?
Correct the driver or USB communication problem first. If the key was consumed, use the new-key generator or contact support.
Can I reset Epson RX680 over Wi-Fi?
No. Wic Reset Connect requires a direct USB connection to the Windows computer.
