Epson WorkForce 40 Reset Waste Ink Counter

The counter behind the Epson WorkForce 40 warning
Every cleaning cycle sends a small amount of ink to the waste ink system. Epson WorkForce 40 adds that activity to its counter and displays a maintenance warning when the programmed threshold is reached.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson WorkForce 40. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson WorkForce 40

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for WorkForce 40 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson WorkForce 40 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson WorkForce 40.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson WorkForce 40 is not detected
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Install the original Epson driver for WorkForce 40; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.

Does the reset clean or replace the ink pads?
No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
Does Epson WorkForce 40 need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
How long does the reset take?
The reset itself usually finishes in about 1–2 minutes after the printer has been detected correctly.
