Epson L5290 Reset Waste Ink Counter
Epson L5290 may refuse new print jobs after estimating that the waste ink pads have reached their service limit. Wic Reset Connect can reset the software counter after the printer is prepared correctly.
Why Epson L5290 stops printing
An ink pad message is a maintenance safeguard. It indicates that Epson L5290 has reached a stored waste ink value that must be reset before normal printing can resume.

Reset the counter in Epson L5290
Prepare the computer and connection first. Most unsuccessful attempts are caused by a missing original driver, an indirect USB connection or another Epson utility using the printer.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for L5290 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson L5290 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson L5290.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson L5290 is not detected
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
- Install the original Epson driver for L5290; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.

Does the reset clean or replace the ink pads?
No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
What if the first reset attempt fails?
Correct the driver or USB communication problem first. If the key was consumed, use the new-key generator or contact support.

The reset itself usually finishes in about 1–2 minutes after the printer has been detected correctly.
