The problem

Why Epson Photo 1290 stops printing

The printer protects against possible ink overflow by monitoring an internal service counter. On Epson Photo 1290, reaching the threshold can trigger an ink pad warning and block further jobs.

Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson Photo 1290. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.

Step by step

Reset the counter in Epson Photo 1290

Complete these steps in order. A direct USB connection and the original Epson driver are essential for reliable communication.

  1. Install the original driver

Install the official Epson driver for Photo 1290 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

  2. Connect directly by USB

Connect Epson Photo 1290 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

  3. Start Wic Reset Connect

Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson Photo 1290.

  4. Enter the key and reset

Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.

Finish correctly: Once the reset finishes, power-cycle Epson Photo 1290 and wait until it returns to its ready state before printing.
If Epson Photo 1290 is not detected
  • Install the original Epson driver for Photo 1290; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
  • Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
  • Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
  • Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
