Epson L3270 Reset Waste Ink Counter
The service-required message on Epson L3270 often relates to the internal waste ink counter rather than an empty cartridge or paper fault. The steps below help you confirm and resolve that condition.
Why the ink pad counter blocks Epson L3270
During head cleaning and normal maintenance, unused ink is directed into internal absorber pads. Epson L3270 estimates that accumulation with a software counter; it does not directly measure the physical amount of ink in the pads.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson L3270. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson L3270
Prepare the computer and connection first. Most unsuccessful attempts are caused by a missing original driver, an indirect USB connection or another Epson utility using the printer.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for L3270 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson L3270 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson L3270.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson L3270 is not detected
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
- Install the original Epson driver for L3270; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.

No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
Can I reset Epson L3270 over Wi-Fi?

Does Epson L3270 need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
