Understanding the Epson ET-2853 waste ink warning
An ink pad message is a maintenance safeguard. It indicates that Epson ET-2853 has reached a stored waste ink value that must be reset before normal printing can resume.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson ET-2853. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson ET-2853
Prepare the computer and connection first. Most unsuccessful attempts are caused by a missing original driver, an indirect USB connection or another Epson utility using the printer.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for ET-2853 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson ET-2853 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson ET-2853.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson ET-2853 is not detected
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.

Does the reset clean or replace the ink pads?
No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
How long does the reset take?
The reset itself usually finishes in about 1–2 minutes after the printer has been detected correctly.
Does Epson ET-2853 need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
