Canon TR5040 Ink Absorber Full Reset
An absorber warning on Canon TR5040 does not necessarily mean that the printer is mechanically damaged. The software counter and the physical pads must be considered separately.
What stops Canon TR5040 from printing
The lock is based on accumulated maintenance activity. Resetting Canon TR5040 changes the counter value but does not remove ink already held in the absorber material.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Canon TR5040. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
How to enter service mode on Canon TR5040
- Turn the printer off.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Canon TR5040 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon TR5040 is not detected
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.
- If Windows does not detect a service-mode device, restart the printer normally, wait 10 seconds and repeat the preparation.
- If the power light blinks, resolve the displayed cartridge, paper or mechanical error before trying service mode again.
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
