Canon MP648 Ink Absorber Full Reset
Canon MP648 can stop printing when its internal ink absorber counter reaches a programmed threshold. Follow the model-specific preparation below before using Wic Reset Connect.
What the Canon MP648 service message means
Waste ink is routed away from the print head and retained inside the printer. The firmware in Canon MP648 calculates usage and may stop new jobs to reduce overflow risk.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Canon MP648. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
How to enter service mode on Canon MP648
- Turn the printer off.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Canon MP648 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon MP648 is not detected
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.
- If the power light blinks, resolve the displayed cartridge, paper or mechanical error before trying service mode again.
- Close Canon maintenance utilities and clear paused print jobs before opening Wic Reset Connect.
- Connect Canon MP648 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
