Model-specific reset guide
Epson XP-403 Reset Waste Ink Counter
If your Epson XP-403 has stopped with an ink pad or service-life warning, the printer may have reached its waste ink counter limit. This model-specific guide explains what the message means and how to complete the reset with Wic Reset Connect.
What the Epson XP-403 service message means
Waste ink produced by cleaning cycles is collected inside the printer. Epson XP-403 tracks those cycles electronically and can stop printing when the calculated limit is reached.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson XP-403. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson XP-403
Prepare the computer and connection first. Most unsuccessful attempts are caused by a missing original driver, an indirect USB connection or another Epson utility using the printer.
-
Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for XP-403 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.
-
Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson XP-403 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.
-
Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson XP-403.
-
Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson XP-403 is not detected
- Install the original Epson driver for XP-403; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
