Epson WF-3642 records cleaning cycles and waste ink usage in an internal counter. When that value reaches its programmed limit, printing can stop until the counter is reset.
Before resetting Epson WF-3642
An ink pad message is a maintenance safeguard. It indicates that Epson WF-3642 has reached a stored waste ink value that must be reset before normal printing can resume.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for WF-3642 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson WF-3642 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson WF-3642.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson WF-3642 is not detected
- Install the original Epson driver for WF-3642; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
