Understanding the Epson ET-4800 waste ink warning

Reset the counter in Epson ET-4800
Use the sequence below to establish a stable USB connection and clear the waste ink counter.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for ET-4800 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson ET-4800 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson ET-4800.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson ET-4800 is not detected
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Install the original Epson driver for ET-4800; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.

No. Wic Reset Connect requires a direct USB connection to the Windows computer.
Does the reset clean or replace the ink pads?
No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
Does Epson ET-4800 need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
