Canon MG5520 Ink Absorber Full Reset
An absorber warning on Canon MG5520 does not necessarily mean that the printer is mechanically damaged. The software counter and the physical pads must be considered separately.
Why Canon MG5520 reports an absorber error
Cleaning operations send unused ink into absorber pads inside the printer. Canon MG5520 estimates their usage with an electronic counter and can lock printing when that value reaches its limit.

How to enter service mode on Canon MG5520
- Turn the printer off.

- Press and release Stop/Reset 6 vezes.
- Wait briefly, then release Power. The power indicator should remain steadily lit.
Reset the counter in Canon MG5520
The counter reset normally takes only a few minutes after Canon MG5520 has entered service mode successfully.

Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon MG5520 is not detected
- Connect Canon MG5520 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
- If Windows does not detect a service-mode device, restart the printer normally, wait 10 seconds and repeat the preparation.

Does Canon MG5520 require service mode?
Yes. The printer must expose its maintenance interface before the counter can be reset with Wic Reset Connect.
Does the reset clean the ink absorber?
