Epson L5298 Reset Waste Ink Counter
When Epson L5298 reports that an ink pad needs service, restarting the printer alone normally does not clear the lock. A compatible reset procedure is required.

An ink pad message is a maintenance safeguard. It indicates that Epson L5298 has reached a stored waste ink value that must be reset before normal printing can resume.

Reset the counter in Epson L5298
Start with the connection checks below, then run the reset without opening other printer programs during the process.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for L5298 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson L5298 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson L5298.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson L5298 is not detected
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Install the original Epson driver for L5298; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
