Canon MG5050 Ink Absorber Full Reset
An absorber warning on Canon MG5050 does not necessarily mean that the printer is mechanically damaged. The software counter and the physical pads must be considered separately.
What the Canon MG5050 service message means
An absorber message concerns both software and maintenance. The counter can be reset, while heavily saturated pads may still need cleaning or replacement.

How to enter service mode on Canon MG5050
- Turn the printer off.

Connect Canon MG5050 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.

- Connect Canon MG5050 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.
- Close Canon maintenance utilities and clear paused print jobs before opening Wic Reset Connect.
