The problem

Understanding the Canon MG5030 ink absorber warning

Cleaning operations send unused ink into absorber pads inside the printer. Canon MG5030 estimates their usage with an electronic counter and can lock printing when that value reaches its limit.

Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Canon MG5030. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.

Step by step

Reset the counter in Canon MG5030

Check cartridges, close Canon utilities and connect the printer directly to Windows before beginning the reset.

  1. Prepare the printer

Resolve other errors, confirm a steady power light and enter service mode using the sequence above.

  2. Connect directly by USB

    Connect Canon MG5030 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

  3. Start Wic Reset Connect

Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

  4. Enter the key and reset

Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.

Finish correctly: Do not unplug the USB cable while data is being written. Restart Canon MG5030 only when Wic Reset Connect confirms completion.
If Canon MG5030 is not detected
  • Close Canon maintenance utilities and clear paused print jobs before opening Wic Reset Connect.
  • Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
  • If Windows does not detect a service-mode device, restart the printer normally, wait 10 seconds and repeat the preparation.
  • Connect Canon MG5030 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
