Canon MP492 Ink Absorber Full Reset
Canon MP492 may block print jobs after recording enough cleaning and maintenance cycles. Use the sequence below to enter service mode and reset the stored value.
What the Canon MP492 service message means
The absorber pads collect ink generated during print-head cleaning. Canon MP492 tracks those maintenance cycles in memory rather than measuring the pads directly.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Canon MP492. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
How to enter service mode on Canon MP492
- Turn the printer off.

Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.

- Connect Canon MP492 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.
- Close Canon maintenance utilities and clear paused print jobs before opening Wic Reset Connect.
- If the power light blinks, resolve the displayed cartridge, paper or mechanical error before trying service mode again.
