Canon PRO-200 Reset Ink Absorber – Complete Tutorial

Canon PRO-200 Ink Absorber Full Reset

If your Canon PRO-200 suddenly refuses to print and shows a maintenance or service warning, the ink absorber counter may have reached its limit.

Inside Canon printers, absorber pads collect excess ink from cleaning and maintenance cycles. The printer uses an internal counter to estimate pad saturation.

This page is prepared for Canon PRO-200. Service mode instructions are shown only when a matching series procedure is known.

How to Enter Service Mode on Canon PRO-200

If your Canon PRO-200 supports service mode reset, follow the steps below before performing the counter reset.

  1. Turn the printer OFF.
  2. Press and hold Stop/Reset.
  3. While holding Stop/Reset, press and hold Power.
  4. Release Stop/Reset (keep holding Power).
  5. Press Stop/Reset 6 times.
  6. Release Power — the printer should enter service mode.

If it doesn’t work, repeat the sequence carefully. The press count depends on the series.

Finalize the Reset and Restore Printing

After service mode is enabled (if required), the waste ink counter can be reset using a supported reset procedure/software.

Maintenance Reminder

Resetting the counter does not physically clean the absorber pads. For heavy usage, pads may eventually need cleaning or replacement.

If your model does not show a service mode section, it means no matching procedure was found for its series.

If It Doesn’t Work

  • Power-cycle the printer and try again.
  • Use the correct Stop/Reset press count for your series.
  • Repeat the service mode steps carefully (timing matters).
  • Try a different USB cable/port if using PC software.
  • Close other Canon printer utilities while resetting.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many times should I press Stop/Reset?
It depends on the series. Many use 5 presses; PRO/imagePROGRAF/MG use 6 in this generator.
Does reset clean the absorber pads?

Does every Canon model need service mode?
No. The generator shows service mode steps only when the series procedure is known.
How long does it take?
Usually a few minutes once the correct steps are followed.
