Canon G2100 Ink Absorber Full Reset
The waste ink system in Canon G2100 collects ink used during cleaning cycles. Once the estimated limit is reached, service mode and a compatible counter reset may be required.
Understanding the Canon G2100 ink absorber warning
The lock is based on accumulated maintenance activity. Resetting Canon G2100 changes the counter value but does not remove ink already held in the absorber material.

How to enter service mode on Canon G2100
- Turn the printer off.
- Press and hold Stop/Reset.
- While holding Stop/Reset, press and hold Power.
- Release Stop/Reset but keep holding Power.
- Press and release Stop/Reset 5 times.
- Wait briefly, then release Power. The power indicator should remain steadily lit.
Reset the counter in Canon G2100
First make sure the power indicator is steady and no cartridge or mechanical error is active. Then prepare the Windows computer and direct USB connection.

Prepare the printer
Resolve other errors, confirm a steady power light and enter service mode using the sequence above.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Canon G2100 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon G2100 is not detected
- Connect Canon G2100 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
- If the power light blinks, resolve the displayed cartridge, paper or mechanical error before trying service mode again.

Does the reset clean the ink absorber?
No. It resets the stored counter. Inspect, clean or replace the absorber pads when their physical condition requires maintenance.
Can I perform the reset over Wi-Fi?
No. Use a direct USB connection between the printer and a Windows computer.
