Canon MB5490 Ink Absorber Full Reset
An absorber warning on Canon MB5490 does not necessarily mean that the printer is mechanically damaged. The software counter and the physical pads must be considered separately.
The waste ink counter inside Canon MB5490
The lock is based on accumulated maintenance activity. Resetting Canon MB5490 changes the counter value but does not remove ink already held in the absorber material.

How to enter service mode on Canon MB5490
- Turn the printer off.

Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.

- Close Canon maintenance utilities and clear paused print jobs before opening Wic Reset Connect.
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
- If the power light blinks, resolve the displayed cartridge, paper or mechanical error before trying service mode again.
- Connect Canon MB5490 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
