The problem

Why Epson R310 stops printing

An ink pad message is a maintenance safeguard. It indicates that Epson R310 has reached a stored waste ink value that must be reset before normal printing can resume.

Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson R310. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.

Step by step

Reset the counter in Epson R310

Prepare the computer and connection first. Most unsuccessful attempts are caused by a missing original driver, an indirect USB connection or another Epson utility using the printer.

  1. Install the original driver

Install the official Epson driver for R310 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

  2. Connect directly by USB

Connect Epson R310 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

  3. Start Wic Reset Connect

Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson R310.

  4. Enter the key and reset

Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.

Finish correctly: Do not disconnect the cable while the reset is running. Restart Epson R310 only after Wic Reset Connect reports that the operation is complete.
If Epson R310 is not detected
  • Install the original Epson driver for R310; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
  • Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
  • Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
  • Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
