Epson WF-2531 Reset Waste Ink Counter
A waste ink counter warning can prevent Epson WF-2531 from printing even when the printer is otherwise working normally. Follow the checks and reset sequence below to restore operation safely.
What the Epson WF-2531 service message means
During head cleaning and normal maintenance, unused ink is directed into internal absorber pads. Epson WF-2531 estimates that accumulation with a software counter; it does not directly measure the physical amount of ink in the pads.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson WF-2531. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson WF-2531
Start with the connection checks below, then run the reset without opening other printer programs during the process.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for WF-2531 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson WF-2531 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson WF-2531.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson WF-2531 is not detected
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
- Install the original Epson driver for WF-2531; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.

Does Epson WF-2531 need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
Does the reset clean or replace the ink pads?
No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
Can I reset Epson WF-2531 over Wi-Fi?
No. Wic Reset Connect requires a direct USB connection to the Windows computer.
