Canon MG5580 Ink Absorber Full Reset
An absorber warning on Canon MG5580 does not necessarily mean that the printer is mechanically damaged. The software counter and the physical pads must be considered separately.
What the Canon MG5580 service message means
An absorber message concerns both software and maintenance. The counter can be reset, while heavily saturated pads may still need cleaning or replacement.

How to enter service mode on Canon MG5580
- Turn the printer off.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Canon MG5580 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon MG5580 is not detected
- If Windows does not detect a service-mode device, restart the printer normally, wait 10 seconds and repeat the preparation.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
- Connect Canon MG5580 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
