An ink pad message is a maintenance safeguard. It indicates that Epson PM-A840 has reached a stored waste ink value that must be reset before normal printing can resume.

Reset the counter in Epson PM-A840
Use the sequence below to establish a stable USB connection and clear the waste ink counter.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for PM-A840 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson PM-A840 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson PM-A840.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson PM-A840 is not detected
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
