Correct preparation protects the reset key from being used during a failed communication attempt. Verify each requirement before selecting Reset.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for L5196 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson L5196 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson L5196.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson L5196 is not detected
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.

No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.

The reset itself usually finishes in about 1–2 minutes after the printer has been detected correctly.
