Epson PX-A740 Reset Waste Ink Counter
A waste ink counter warning can prevent Epson PX-A740 from printing even when the printer is otherwise working normally. Follow the checks and reset sequence below to restore operation safely.
Why the ink pad counter blocks Epson PX-A740
During head cleaning and normal maintenance, unused ink is directed into internal absorber pads. Epson PX-A740 estimates that accumulation with a software counter; it does not directly measure the physical amount of ink in the pads.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson PX-A740. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson PX-A740
Prepare the computer and connection first. Most unsuccessful attempts are caused by a missing original driver, an indirect USB connection or another Epson utility using the printer.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for PX-A740 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson PX-A740 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson PX-A740.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson PX-A740 is not detected
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
- Install the original Epson driver for PX-A740; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.

Does Epson PX-A740 need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
How long does the reset take?
The reset itself usually finishes in about 1–2 minutes after the printer has been detected correctly.
What if the first reset attempt fails?
Correct the driver or USB communication problem first. If the key was consumed, use the new-key generator or contact support.
