Epson L3285 Reset Waste Ink Counter
If your Epson L3285 has stopped with an ink pad or service-life warning, the printer may have reached its waste ink counter limit. This model-specific guide explains what the message means and how to complete the reset with Wic Reset Connect.
Before resetting Epson L3285
During head cleaning and normal maintenance, unused ink is directed into internal absorber pads. Epson L3285 estimates that accumulation with a software counter; it does not directly measure the physical amount of ink in the pads.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson L3285. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson L3285
Prepare the computer and connection first. Most unsuccessful attempts are caused by a missing original driver, an indirect USB connection or another Epson utility using the printer.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for L3285 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson L3285 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson L3285.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson L3285 is not detected
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.

Does Epson L3285 need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
Can I reset Epson L3285 over Wi-Fi?
No. Wic Reset Connect requires a direct USB connection to the Windows computer.

Correct the driver or USB communication problem first. If the key was consumed, use the new-key generator or contact support.
