Canon MG5051 Ink Absorber Full Reset
When Canon MG5051 reports that the ink absorber is full, turning it off and on will not normally remove the lock. The printer must be prepared correctly and its counter reset.
Before resetting Canon MG5051
An absorber message concerns both software and maintenance. The counter can be reset, while heavily saturated pads may still need cleaning or replacement.

How to enter service mode on Canon MG5051
- Turn the printer off.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Canon MG5051 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon MG5051 is not detected
- Connect Canon MG5051 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
- If the power light blinks, resolve the displayed cartridge, paper or mechanical error before trying service mode again.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.

Does the reset clean the ink absorber?
No. It resets the stored counter. Inspect, clean or replace the absorber pads when their physical condition requires maintenance.
Can I perform the reset over Wi-Fi?
No. Use a direct USB connection between the printer and a Windows computer.
