The problem

Before resetting Epson R380

Every cleaning cycle sends a small amount of ink to the waste ink system. Epson R380 adds that activity to its counter and displays a maintenance warning when the programmed threshold is reached.

Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson R380. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.

Step by step

Reset the counter in Epson R380

Correct preparation protects the reset key from being used during a failed communication attempt. Verify each requirement before selecting Reset.

  1. Install the original driver

Install the official Epson driver for R380 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

  2. Connect directly by USB

Connect Epson R380 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

  3. Start Wic Reset Connect

Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson R380.

  4. Enter the key and reset

Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.

Finish correctly: Finish by closing Wic Reset Connect and restarting Epson R380. A short power-off interval lets the printer reload the updated counter value.
If Epson R380 is not detected
  • Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
  • Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
  • Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
  • Install the original Epson driver for R380; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
