Epson PM-A890 Reset Waste Ink Counter
If your Epson PM-A890 has stopped with an ink pad or service-life warning, the printer may have reached its waste ink counter limit. This model-specific guide explains what the message means and how to complete the reset with Wic Reset Connect.
Why the ink pad counter blocks Epson PM-A890
During head cleaning and normal maintenance, unused ink is directed into internal absorber pads. Epson PM-A890 estimates that accumulation with a software counter; it does not directly measure the physical amount of ink in the pads.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson PM-A890. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson PM-A890
Correct preparation protects the reset key from being used during a failed communication attempt. Verify each requirement before selecting Reset.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for PM-A890 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson PM-A890 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson PM-A890.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson PM-A890 is not detected
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Install the original Epson driver for PM-A890; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.

Can I reset Epson PM-A890 over Wi-Fi?
No. Wic Reset Connect requires a direct USB connection to the Windows computer.
What if the first reset attempt fails?
Correct the driver or USB communication problem first. If the key was consumed, use the new-key generator or contact support.
Does the reset clean or replace the ink pads?
No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
