The counter behind the Epson L3158 warning
During head cleaning and normal maintenance, unused ink is directed into internal absorber pads. Epson L3158 estimates that accumulation with a software counter; it does not directly measure the physical amount of ink in the pads.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson L3158. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.

Complete these steps in order. A direct USB connection and the original Epson driver are essential for reliable communication.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for L3158 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson L3158 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson L3158.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson L3158 is not detected
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.

How long does the reset take?
The reset itself usually finishes in about 1–2 minutes after the printer has been detected correctly.
What if the first reset attempt fails?
Correct the driver or USB communication problem first. If the key was consumed, use the new-key generator or contact support.

No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
