When Epson L3116 reports that an ink pad needs service, restarting the printer alone normally does not clear the lock. A compatible reset procedure is required.
Why the ink pad counter blocks Epson L3116
Epson L3116 uses stored counter data to estimate absorber usage. The estimate may reach its limit before the pads appear completely saturated, but physical maintenance should still be considered.

Reset the counter in Epson L3116
Start with the connection checks below, then run the reset without opening other printer programs during the process.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for L3116 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson L3116 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson L3116.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson L3116 is not detected
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
- Install the original Epson driver for L3116; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.

Does the reset clean or replace the ink pads?
No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
How long does the reset take?
The reset itself usually finishes in about 1–2 minutes after the printer has been detected correctly.
Does Epson L3116 need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
