Epson L1230 Reset Waste Ink Counter
When Epson L1230 reports that an ink pad needs service, restarting the printer alone normally does not clear the lock. A compatible reset procedure is required.
Before resetting Epson L1230
Every cleaning cycle sends a small amount of ink to the waste ink system. Epson L1230 adds that activity to its counter and displays a maintenance warning when the programmed threshold is reached.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson L1230. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson L1230
Prepare the computer and connection first. Most unsuccessful attempts are caused by a missing original driver, an indirect USB connection or another Epson utility using the printer.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for L1230 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson L1230 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson L1230.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson L1230 is not detected
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Install the original Epson driver for L1230; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.

What if the first reset attempt fails?
Correct the driver or USB communication problem first. If the key was consumed, use the new-key generator or contact support.
Does Epson L1230 need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
Does the reset clean or replace the ink pads?
No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
