Canon MG6400 Ink Absorber Full Reset
If Canon MG6400 displays an ink absorber full or service-required warning, the stored waste ink counter may have reached its limit. This guide covers service mode, USB preparation and the reset itself.
Before resetting Canon MG6400
An absorber message concerns both software and maintenance. The counter can be reset, while heavily saturated pads may still need cleaning or replacement.

How to enter service mode on Canon MG6400
- Turn the printer off.

Reset the counter in Canon MG6400

Prepare the printer
Resolve other errors, confirm a steady power light and enter service mode using the sequence above.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Canon MG6400 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon MG6400 is not detected
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
- If Windows does not detect a service-mode device, restart the printer normally, wait 10 seconds and repeat the preparation.
- If the power light blinks, resolve the displayed cartridge, paper or mechanical error before trying service mode again.

No. It resets the stored counter. Inspect, clean or replace the absorber pads when their physical condition requires maintenance.
Can I perform the reset over Wi-Fi?
