Canon MG5500 Ink Absorber Full Reset
Canon MG5500 can stop printing when its internal ink absorber counter reaches a programmed threshold. Follow the model-specific preparation below before using Wic Reset Connect.
Understanding the Canon MG5500 ink absorber warning
Waste ink is routed away from the print head and retained inside the printer. The firmware in Canon MG5500 calculates usage and may stop new jobs to reduce overflow risk.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Canon MG5500. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
How to enter service mode on Canon MG5500
- Turn the printer off.

Prepare the printer

Connect directly by USB
Connect Canon MG5500 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon MG5500 is not detected
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.
- Connect Canon MG5500 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
- If Windows does not detect a service-mode device, restart the printer normally, wait 10 seconds and repeat the preparation.
- Close Canon maintenance utilities and clear paused print jobs before opening Wic Reset Connect.
