Understanding the Epson R800 waste ink warning
An ink pad message is a maintenance safeguard. It indicates that Epson R800 has reached a stored waste ink value that must be reset before normal printing can resume.

Reset the counter in Epson R800

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for R800 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson R800 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson R800.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson R800 is not detected
- Install the original Epson driver for R800; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.

Does the reset clean or replace the ink pads?
No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
Does Epson R800 need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
