Epson L3253 Reset Waste Ink Counter

Epson L3253 records cleaning cycles and waste ink usage in an internal counter. When that value reaches its programmed limit, printing can stop until the counter is reset.

The problem

The counter behind the Epson L3253 warning

Every cleaning cycle sends a small amount of ink to the waste ink system. Epson L3253 adds that activity to its counter and displays a maintenance warning when the programmed threshold is reached.

Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson L3253. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.

Reset the counter in Epson L3253

Start with the connection checks below, then run the reset without opening other printer programs during the process.

  1. Install the original driver

Install the official Epson driver for L3253 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

  2. Connect directly by USB

Connect Epson L3253 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

  3. Start Wic Reset Connect

Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson L3253.

  4. Enter the key and reset

Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.

Finish correctly: Do not disconnect the cable while the reset is running. Restart Epson L3253 only after Wic Reset Connect reports that the operation is complete.
If Epson L3253 is not detected
  • Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
  • Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
  • Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
  • Install the original Epson driver for L3253; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
