Canon MP480 can stop printing when its internal ink absorber counter reaches a programmed threshold. Follow the model-specific preparation below before using Wic Reset Connect.
Why Canon MP480 reports an absorber error
The absorber pads collect ink generated during print-head cleaning. Canon MP480 tracks those maintenance cycles in memory rather than measuring the pads directly.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Canon MP480. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
How to enter service mode on Canon MP480
- Turn the printer off.
- Appuyer et maintenir Stop/Reset.
- Tout en maintenant la touche Stop/Reset, appuyez et maintenez la touche Puissance.
- Release Stop/Reset but keep holding Power.
- Press and release Stop/Reset 2 fois.
- Wait briefly, then release Power. The power indicator should remain steadily lit.
Reset the counter in Canon MP480
First make sure the power indicator is steady and no cartridge or mechanical error is active. Then prepare the Windows computer and direct USB connection.

Prepare the printer
Resolve other errors, confirm a steady power light and enter service mode using the sequence above.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Canon MP480 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon MP480 is not detected
- Close Canon maintenance utilities and clear paused print jobs before opening Wic Reset Connect.
- If the power light blinks, resolve the displayed cartridge, paper or mechanical error before trying service mode again.
- If Windows does not detect a service-mode device, restart the printer normally, wait 10 seconds and repeat the preparation.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.

Does the reset clean the ink absorber?
No. It resets the stored counter. Inspect, clean or replace the absorber pads when their physical condition requires maintenance.
What if my reset key was used during a failed attempt?
Correct the cause first, then use the new-key generator or contact support for assistance.
