Epson NX409 Reset Waste Ink Counter
Epson NX409 records cleaning cycles and waste ink usage in an internal counter. When that value reaches its programmed limit, printing can stop until the counter is reset.
Before resetting Epson NX409
An ink pad message is a maintenance safeguard. It indicates that Epson NX409 has reached a stored waste ink value that must be reset before normal printing can resume.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson NX409. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson NX409
Use the sequence below to establish a stable USB connection and clear the waste ink counter.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for NX409 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson NX409 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson NX409.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson NX409 is not detected
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.

How long does the reset take?
The reset itself usually finishes in about 1–2 minutes after the printer has been detected correctly.
Does the reset clean or replace the ink pads?
No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
Can I reset Epson NX409 over Wi-Fi?
No. Wic Reset Connect requires a direct USB connection to the Windows computer.
