Why the ink pad counter blocks Epson L5296
An ink pad message is a maintenance safeguard. It indicates that Epson L5296 has reached a stored waste ink value that must be reset before normal printing can resume.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson L5296. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson L5296
Prepare the computer and connection first. Most unsuccessful attempts are caused by a missing original driver, an indirect USB connection or another Epson utility using the printer.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for L5296 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson L5296 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson L5296.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson L5296 is not detected
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Clear paused print jobs and restart both the printer and Windows if another program is holding the USB connection.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
