Canon G1010 Ink Absorber Full Reset
An absorber warning on Canon G1010 does not necessarily mean that the printer is mechanically damaged. The software counter and the physical pads must be considered separately.
Understanding the Canon G1010 ink absorber warning
The lock is based on accumulated maintenance activity. Resetting Canon G1010 changes the counter value but does not remove ink already held in the absorber material.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Canon G1010. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
How to enter service mode on Canon G1010
- Turn the printer off.
- Mantenga pulsado Parar/Restablecer.
- Mientras mantiene pulsado Stop/Reset, pulse y mantenga pulsado Potencia.
- Release Stop/Reset but keep holding Power.
- Press and release Stop/Reset 5 veces.
- Wait briefly, then release Power. The power indicator should remain steadily lit.
Reset the counter in Canon G1010
First make sure the power indicator is steady and no cartridge or mechanical error is active. Then prepare the Windows computer and direct USB connection.

Prepare the printer
Resolve other errors, confirm a steady power light and enter service mode using the sequence above.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Canon G1010 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon G1010 is not detected
- Close Canon maintenance utilities and clear paused print jobs before opening Wic Reset Connect.
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
- Connect Canon G1010 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
- If the power light blinks, resolve the displayed cartridge, paper or mechanical error before trying service mode again.
