Canon G5100 Ink Absorber Full Reset
An absorber warning on Canon G5100 does not necessarily mean that the printer is mechanically damaged. The software counter and the physical pads must be considered separately.
Why Canon G5100 reports an absorber error
Canon G5100 uses a stored counter as a maintenance safeguard. Reaching the threshold can produce an Ink Absorber Full, Service Required or related support-code message.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Canon G5100. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
How to enter service mode on Canon G5100
- Turn the printer off.
- Press and hold Stop/Reset.
- While holding Stop/Reset, press and hold Power.
- Release Stop/Reset but keep holding Power.
- Press and release Stop/Reset 5 times.
- Wait briefly, then release Power. The power indicator should remain steadily lit.
Reset the counter in Canon G5100
The counter reset normally takes only a few minutes after Canon G5100 has entered service mode successfully.
-
Prepare the printer

-
Connect directly by USB
Connect Canon G5100 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.
-

Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.
-

Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon G5100 is not detected
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
- Connect Canon G5100 directly to the computer and try another data-capable USB cable or port.
- If Windows does not detect a service-mode device, restart the printer normally, wait 10 seconds and repeat the preparation.
- Close Canon maintenance utilities and clear paused print jobs before opening Wic Reset Connect.
