Canon G5040 Ink Absorber Full Reset
Canon G5040 may block print jobs after recording enough cleaning and maintenance cycles. Use the sequence below to enter service mode and reset the stored value.
Before resetting Canon G5040
Waste ink is routed away from the print head and retained inside the printer. The firmware in Canon G5040 calculates usage and may stop new jobs to reduce overflow risk.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Canon G5040. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
How to enter service mode on Canon G5040
- Turn the printer off.

Connect Canon G5040 to a Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 computer without Wi-Fi or a USB hub.

Run the program as Administrator and wait until the Canon service-mode device is detected.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, select Reset and keep the printer connected until confirmation appears.
If Canon G5040 is not detected
- Repeat the button sequence at a steady pace; releasing Power too early is a common reason service mode fails.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep internet access active for key validation.
- Close Canon maintenance utilities and clear paused print jobs before opening Wic Reset Connect.
- If the power light blinks, resolve the displayed cartridge, paper or mechanical error before trying service mode again.
