Epson XP-601 Reset Waste Ink Counter
Epson XP-601 records cleaning cycles and waste ink usage in an internal counter. When that value reaches its programmed limit, printing can stop until the counter is reset.
The counter behind the Epson XP-601 warning
Epson XP-601 uses stored counter data to estimate absorber usage. The estimate may reach its limit before the pads appear completely saturated, but physical maintenance should still be considered.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson XP-601. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.
Reset the counter in Epson XP-601
Complete these steps in order. A direct USB connection and the original Epson driver are essential for reliable communication.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for XP-601 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson XP-601 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson XP-601.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson XP-601 is not detected
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.

How long does the reset take?
The reset itself usually finishes in about 1–2 minutes after the printer has been detected correctly.
Does the reset clean or replace the ink pads?
No. It changes the stored counter value. Inspect, clean or replace the physical waste ink system when its condition requires it.
Does Epson XP-601 need service mode?
No. Epson printers do not use the Canon service-mode sequence. Connect the printer normally by USB.
