Why the ink pad counter blocks Epson WF-2538
During head cleaning and normal maintenance, unused ink is directed into internal absorber pads. Epson WF-2538 estimates that accumulation with a software counter; it does not directly measure the physical amount of ink in the pads.
Wic Reset Connect is designed to reset the compatible counter in Epson WF-2538. The physical waste ink system should still be inspected and maintained when necessary.

Use the sequence below to establish a stable USB connection and clear the waste ink counter.

Install the official Epson driver for WF-2538 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect Epson WF-2538 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson WF-2538.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.

- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
- Install the original Epson driver for WF-2538; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Try another USB port and a known data-capable USB cable if the printer is not detected.
