Every cleaning cycle sends a small amount of ink to the waste ink system. Epson L1278 adds that activity to its counter and displays a maintenance warning when the programmed threshold is reached.

Reset the counter in Epson L1278
Start with the connection checks below, then run the reset without opening other printer programs during the process.

Install the original driver
Install the official Epson driver for L1278 and confirm that Windows can see the printer.

Connect directly by USB
Connect Epson L1278 to the computer without Wi-Fi, a hub or an adapter.

Start Wic Reset Connect
Close Epson Status Monitor, run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and select Epson L1278.

Enter the key and reset
Enter the purchased key, choose Reset and keep the printer connected until completion.
If Epson L1278 is not detected
- Run Wic Reset Connect as Administrator and keep the internet connection active throughout validation.
- Install the original Epson driver for L1278; a generic Windows driver may not expose the required communication interface.
- Close Epson Status Monitor and any other Epson maintenance software before starting Wic Reset Connect.
- Connect the printer directly to the computer. Do not use Wi-Fi, a USB hub, docking station or print server.
